Yes YADA products are 100% compliant with EU SUPD (Directive 2019/904) and have been since the law took effect in July 2021.
EU SUPD quick summary:
- Bans: Single-use plastic cutlery, plates, straws, stirrers, cotton bud sticks, balloon sticks, food containers, cups (from July 2021)
- Allows: Compostable alternatives (must meet EN 13432), pure wood products (naturally compliant without needing certification)
- Penalty: Member states can impose fines up to 5% of national turnover for non-compliance
YADA's compliance position:
- ? Naturally compliant: Our birch wood and bamboo products fall outside the plastic definition entirely no exemption paperwork needed
- ? OK Compost INDUSTRIAL certified: We can apply official compostability labeling if you want to market the additional benefit
- ? Material Safety Documentation: We provide signed declarations confirming material composition (100% wood/bamboo)
- ? Labeling compliance: We can include proper disposal markings per EN 13432 on custom-printed products
